Distillate vs Live Resin

With so many different cannabis concentrates on the market it can be difficult to figure out why they are all different and which is the best for you. Both will get you very high, however the experiences will be slightly different due to different extraction methods.

THC DISTILLATES

Distillates are made up of isolated cannabinoids, like THC which makes it very potent, and that gets you very high. If you are looking for the highest amounts of THC in your cannabis products, distillates are an attractive option. For those who don’t like the taste of weed, New Normal’s THC distillates are a great way to be able to consume concentrates.

LIVE RESIN

Live Resin on the other hand, is made so that all the aromas and flavor that comes from the plant is still present in the concentrate. When using New Normal’s live resin, it smells and tastes like you are smoking actual flowers! This is due to the extraction process.

EXTRACTION

Distillates use heat to extract the THC cannabinoids and Live Resin uses freezing temperatures in their extraction process. This is the defining feature of each.

Live resin takes live cannabis flower and flash freezes it, In the freezing process the terpenes and cannabinoids are preserved. Freezing the plant preserves all the rich flavors and wonderful aromas that the plant has. You then run a solvent through it and later get rid of the solvent using warm water and vacuuming out the liquid, what you are left with is a thick potent concentrate.

Because heat is not used in the live resin process, decarboxylation has not yet occurred and the THC has not been activated yet.

Distillates are made by extracting cannabinoids using heat and a solvent.  It is then purified through a process known as “Winterization.” Everything is burned off of the plant so that all that remains are the THC cannabinoids. Everything that was removed from the plant in the extraction process is then re-added to the isolated THC. Terpenes from other plants are added and sometimes flavors are as well.

CONSUMPTION

Both live resin and distillate will get you high, but depending on the experience you are looking for, your preference will change. If you want a concentrate experience that brings you as close to smoking flower as possible, live resin is for you. If you want something a little more discrete, distillates are for you as they don’t always smell like cannabis.

If you are looking for a high THC experience, New normal’s distillates are for you, but if you want a holistic experience that brings everything cannabis has to offer, New normal’s live resin is for you.
